Twitter Twemoji

BUCK partnered with Twitter to create Twemoji, a new dimensional and expressive emoji system designed to bring greater personality and inclusivity to the platform. Built around a distinctive 3/4 perspective, the system transformed thousands of familiar emoji designs into richly illustrated, hand-painted characters and objects—crafted to remain clear and expressive at every scale, from mobile screens to billboards.

MY CONTRIBUTION

CONCEPT DESIGN DIRECTION & VISUAL DEVELOPMENT

As Concept Design Director, I oversaw the visual development and technical execution of the Twemoji illustration system, guiding the team to maintain a consistent visual language across thousands of individual designs. I provided direction on design, materials, lighting, and rendering, helping establish the technical approach and ensure consistency across the system.

Alongside directing the team, I remained hands-on throughout the project, designing and developing select emojis myself—from concept and visual exploration through final execution.
